Project Craush

I’ve started a music project, entitled Craush. It’s a one-man operation; I’ll be doing vocals and guitar, and employing the services of a drum machine. Musical genre will resemble the alternative workings of The Postal Service and Owl City, with guitar similar to the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’ll be working on an EP over the summer, as my schedule allows. It will probably consist of three songs based on my heartbreak trilogy of poems (the third of which isn’t yet posted). I’ll update when it’s complete.

I know my prose isn’t the best;

Right now I really don’t care.

At the moment, there’s bigger roadblocks

To make me stop and stare.

I keep on hitting my head

Upon the same wall.

Too stupid to move the stumbling block

Before, again, I fall.

My heart’s got lots of bullet holes

Guess it needed one more.

Yeah, my hopeful unlocked latch

Hid another slamming door.

Believe it or not, I’m not depressed

I’ve got a happy life.

But this tree-sized thorn in my side

Fills it with lots of strife.

But, see, it could all be over

If I could just move on.

Just give up on these regrets

Just find another song.

But I’m really not all that smart.

Although I know what’s best,

My heart is stuck, singing one note

And ignoring all the rest

So I sit and I sigh, I write and I cry,

and I do it all over again.

Shattering.

Is this all it’s supposed to be?

You dig in your trench or you hide in the trees.

The strong only fall

while the weak rule all.

You don’t even know what it means.

Maybe you’re not as strong as you thought,

or maybe the war just shouldn’t be fought.

You don’t care, you still try,

fighting as you die,

you’d rather give up than get caught.

They stomp on your face and muddy your name

and your heart is left with nothing but shame.

Immovable courage flees

before the disease

When did you start losing the game?

Flying on a broken wing and a prayer,

if you’re dead it doesn’t matter you’re halfway there

Falling faster than you thought you knew how,

but you’ll disappear before you hit the ground

God help us if shattering doesn’t lead somewhere.
